My name is Erin McCarthy; I am 20 years old, British-born, and Australian-raised.

As a child, I was extremely active, spending most of my time outdoors or playing sports. I participated in tennis, football, and go-kart racing, which created my competitive spirit and passion for the sports industry.

As well as playing sports, attending sporting events in the UK and Australia as a child generated my lifelong passion for sports, which has shaped my career in media and communications. Growing up in the digital age inspired my love for content creation, and with a creative mind, I take pride in consistently delivering fun and engaging content. I also have a deep interest in understanding the psychological effects and tactics of social media.
Get to know me
I possess a diverse skill set that includes social media management, content creation, videography, photography, basic graphic design, and video editing. I have experience in managing a team of social media creators, writing press releases, and handling editorial duties. Additionally, I liaise with stakeholders and partners for activations and conduct interviews both in-person and online. My expertise also extends to public relations, personal assistant duties, scheduling, and conducting comparative strategy and trend research on similar competitors. I am skilled in website design and collaborating with external agencies. Furthermore, I excel in finding creative ways to incorporate sponsors into social media content.
One of the key highlights of my career so far has been working for the BWT Alpine F1 Team - initially as an intern, with subsequent employment as a freelancer, continuing the duties I performed throughout my internship.
As part of my work within BWT Alpine F1 Team’s Communications team, I assisted with high-profile media appearances such as Jeremy Clarkson’s surprise visit to the factory, as well as working alongside their key athletes and academy.

At present, I am Speedcafe’s Social Media Manager, travelling Australia to cover all national motorsport events whilst growing the social media accounts engagement and fan base. In my first year with Speedcafe, I increased the Instagram following by 73% and our reach by 412%.
Across all platforms, I have overseen significant growth in metrics, increased content diversity, and the establishment of brand guidelines to create a recognisable identity for all fans. Another metric-based achievement of mine includes playing an instrumental role in growing a new indoor go-karting business from no social media presence to over 30k followers in less than twelve months. I have also managed other social media accounts ranging from Tickford Racing in the Supercars Championship, Volante Rosso in GT World Challenge Australia, Caltex Young Stars Wildcard Team Supercars team, The Race Torque, and supporting the BWT Alpine F1 digital team with executing my content ideas.
I believe my experience in a fast-paced environment allows me to bring a fresh perspective to the team, along with a diverse skill set and valuable assets. With my experience in sports that have a global fanbase, I can effectively engage with dynamic and passionate audiences on social media, ultimately boosting revenue and fan engagement.
My in-depth knowledge of newer platforms like TikTok and Instagram provides me with a unique advantage in creating relevant and captivating content. Additionally, as a member of the target demographic, I understand what resonates with our audience.
Despite my young age, I am confident in the skills and abilities that I have acquired throughout the extensive experiences working within professional work environments.
